Dust Covered Faces
2025
Sculpted terracotta, handwoven cloth in cottons, linens, silk and wool, steel
120 x 40 x 34 cm

As an artefact of now, 'Dust Covered Faces' acts to preserve the humanity of communal mourning amidst widespread civilian and child death at the hands of contemporary colonial conquest.

The core theme of this work is explored through the act of hand weaving. The care and dedication of individually dyeing and weaving the cloths that cocoon the disembodied head of the young girl convey an intimate mourning of a cherished and loved individual.

'Dust Covered Faces' is dedicated to the people of Palestine.

At least 15,000 children have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.
